April through September is the main season. In winter, the days in which we can go out to see are reduced due to the bad weather conditions… but you can still whale watch all year round, even in glorious winter days.
We work with traditional lookouts (who stem from the whaling era) to spot the animals. With lookouts on both Faial and Pico, sighting whales is an almost daily event. In 2011, 95% of our sea outings were successful, with whale sightings.
You can go on a whale watching trip regardless of your age and physical status, but if you bear any disability in need of personal accompanying, prior arrangements are needed.
Before each trip we will brief you on the activity and what you can expect, including the area where it will take place and the species you can see.
We have three 7.5 and 11 m m oceanic ribs to ensure you a close contact experience with nature in full security. We also have a 12 people catamaran for 12 people (kitchen and WC), suitable for those disabled, with back problems, for pregnant women and small children up to three years old. The clients might get a little wet, according to the weather conditions, but we always supply impermeables before going out to sea.
This activity is subject to a minimum of participants. If said minimun is not fulfilled, the agency will either refund the total amount or substitute for a similar activity.
Cancellations allowed up to 15 days prior to the activity.
