Walking Tour: Around Caldeira

This route starts exactly at Faial’s Caldeira, the crater of a dormant volcano with a diameter of 2 km and a depth of 400m. This trail will take you to the central part of the island with incredible views and overlooking the villages on the north and south coast.

Endemic flora is prevalent, including Azorean Juniper (Juniperus brevifolia), Azorean Heather (Ericaazorica), Azores Blueberry (Vaccinium cylindraceum), Spurge (Euphorbia stygiana), Angelica Lignescens, Lysimachia Azorica, among others.
