Leave Velas, following the south side of the island. Stop at the Velas viewpoint, where you can enjoy a beautiful view over the town and the island of Pico.
Then off to Ribeira do Nabo. Here you can see some beautiful handicrafts, including weaving; then on to Urzelina, a parish by the sea. A volcanic eruption in 1808 destroyed the entire parish, leaving only the tower of the old church.
Continuing along the seafront, with beautiful coastal views over the neighboring island of Pico, you head towards the parish of Manadas. The ex-libris of this parish is the Church of Santa Bárbara. Lunch at a local restaurant.
Obligatory stops at the Fajã dos Cubres and Fajã do Ouvidor viewpoints. In the parish of Rosais, visit the Parque das Sete Fontes, where you can admire flora that is mostly endemic.
Then it's off to Pico da Velha, where, on a day with good weather, you can see the other islands of the central group: Faial, Pico, Terceira and Graciosa. Finally, it's on to Vila das Velas, where the tour ends.
Visibility over the landscapes depends on the weather conditions.
